Shane Richie, who played the loveable sometime landlord, has got fans talking after a mysterious tweet called everything into question. The star, 53, posted an image of himself with Barbara Windsor, who famously played Peggy Mitchell on the soap for around 16 years before leaving in 2010 and returning occasionally before the character was finally killed off last year. Shane starred as Alfie from 2002 to 2005, then left before a return in 2010 and another exit in 2016 alongside his on-screen wife, Kat, played by Jessie Wallace. The pair won their own spin-off series, Kat and Alfie: Redwater, which saw them searching for Kat’s long-lost son in Ireland where things took a very dark turn indeed.
