Fans have been convinced that a Max comeback was imminent recently, between son Oscar’s own return to Walford, and the recent birth of a grandson. The soap has now confirmed the news, with Jake set to reprise the role this autumn. Jake Wood will reprise his role as the iconic Max Branning (Credit: BBC) EastEnders confirms Max Branning return Announcing the news, new Executive Producer Ben Wadey said: “I’m delighted to welcome the immensely talented Jake Wood back to the role of Max Branning. Whilst his character has only been away from Albert Square for four years, Walford, and the lives of those who live in it, have changed immensely. “Max has a lot of unfinished business, but whether he is welcomed by his family remains to be seen.” He teased: “However, with a past as checkered as Max’s, it’s fair to say that many Walford residents will not be pleased to see him, putting the Brannings back at the heart of the Square, and the drama, this year.” Article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Max will return briefly this autumn, before reprising the role full-time later this year.
