Upset TV watchers reacted angrily when the Taylors’ dog Bronson ate a chess piece – Ted Murray’s white Queen, no less. Bronson was the unwitting cause of numerous complaints (Credit: BBC) One fan even accused scriptwriters for the long-running serial drama of “not being bothered”. On Thursday night’s hour-long episode (22 February), Bernadette Taylor was seen pleading with Patrick Trueman for help after discovering that her family dog had eaten a chess piece. One angry Twitter fan blasted: “A dog swallows a ring then a dog swallows a chess piece. It is honestly like the storyliners can’t be bothered. There’s pointless Aiden and his constant money obsession, dog poo chess piece and a pregnant friend of a minor character that was in the show for 6 months almost 8 years ago.
