How much is The Queen Vic worth and what did Mick Carter pay for it? Pub sale explained

The pub goes to auction next week

Next week’s episodes of EastEnders see the sale of The Queen Vic get underway, with the Beales and the Slaters fighting it out for the iconic Walford boozer. It’s been a tumultuous year for Albert Square’s local pub, between it exploding, re-opening and then being put up for sale by Linda and Elaine.

With Ian Beale determined to add it to his business portfolio, another contender entered the ring this week – Kat Moon, backed up by a newly loaded Stacey Slater.

With Ian planning on selling the pie and mash shop to raise the funds and Stacey having come into a £100k windfall (thanks Martin)  the pub could be anyone’s.

But can you really buy a busy London pub for £100,000?

How much is The Queen Vic worth?

The price of a pub of The Queen Vic’s size and location is estimated to be between £1.5million and £2million. In 2021, the financial advice website money.co.uk valued it at around £2,083,387.

However, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect it to go for much more than that… with estimates reaching up to £5million.

It has been newly renovated after all (even if it does look exactly the same), and inflation hasn’t exactly shrunk since 2021.

So how on Earth is Kat planning on buying a pub with £100 grand?

How is Kat going to pay for The Queen Vic?

Stacey’s £100k will cover the deposit on the pub. Kat will then pay for the rest herself.

EastEnders spoilers for next week reveal that Kat has a very positive meeting with the bank. This suggests that she’ll get a loan for the rest. She also owns a successful taxi business in Kat’s Cabs.

That still doesn’t make her a millionaire, but the fact that the pub is going up for auction means that it could go for less than the millions one might have expected. Who knows, all those people who died in there over the years might have driven the asking price down a bit.

Lest we forget, a man was literally killed by a falling bathtub in there a few months ago.

How much did Mick Carter pay for it?

Mick Carter bought The Queen Vic from Phil in 2013. He paid around half a million for it, which seems cheap – even for 2013.

Ten years later, Elaine purchased the pub as a joint licensee with Mick. The soap did not explicitly mention how much she paid for the pleasure.
