Fans of EastEnders have predicted that hapless Howie Danes will take the blame for attacking Patrick Trueman. In last night’s episode (Wednesday, August 6), Howie confronted Oscar over the attack, revealing that he’d seen his ankle tag and knew that he was responsible.

But, rather than just shopping Oscar to the police, Howie decided to blackmail the youth instead. Realising that Howie had no real evidence and wanted the cash for himself, Lauren brushed him off, rejecting his blackmail attempt.

Clearly Howie is headed down a dark path… but will it backfire, leading to him being blamed for the break-in?

Howie to take the blame for Patrick attack, EastEnders fans predict

As last night’s scenes aired, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Howie’s recent scenes. And some wondered whether he was setting himself up for a fall.

“I wonder if Howie will be blamed for Patrick’s attack and sent down?” asked one fan on X.

“I’m quite surprised the cops don’t suspect Howie of mugging and assaulting Patrick tbh. He has motive and I really thought that’s where this story was heading,” said another.

“I think he’s going to get the blame for the break-in, maybe Lauren and Oscar will set him up,” a third predicted.

“I’m thinking Kim will find the money and they’ll blame him for attacking Patrick,” said a fourth, of his blackmail plan.

Howie feels guilty as Patrick struggles following his ordeal

Howie struggles with a guilty conscience in EastEnders spoilers for next week, as Patrick returns home from the hospital. Patrick gets the all-clear physically, but Yolande grows worried by his downbeat, scared behaviour.

Seeing how affected Patrick is by his experience, Howie feels terrible. Will he be able to cope with the guilt of knowing who attacked Patrick and took the money? And can Patrick recover from his trauma in time for the wedding?
