Last week’s episodes saw Howie struggle to make ends meet as son Denzel planned to go on an expensive festival trip with his friends. Frustrated everyman Howie was upset to learn that Denzel had gone behind his back to ask Kim for money, and assured them both that he’d be able to pay for it. However, his day went from bad to worse following a series of humiliations from those around him. He tried to boost his bank balance by applying for the bouncer’s job at Harry’s Barn, but was laughed out of the door by Nicola (unaware that she was hiding George under her desk). After learning that Yolande had banned Patrick from gambling, Howie settled upon a solution. He’d place Patrick’s bets, clearing Patrick of any wrong-doing while also making some money for himself. (Credit: BBC) Howie to become addicted to gambling, EastEnders fans predict Sharing their thoughts on social media as last week’s scenes aired, fans weighed in on how they thought Howie and Patrick’s plan might play out. And some had fears that this might open Howie up to a terrible source of temptation. “After not getting the bouncer job, and overhearing Kim mention Vinnie, is it possible he’s heading for a gambling addiction storyline?” asked one fan. “If they go down this route I hope they do it right. They explored it with Kush and Rocky and I feel they never portray it realistically. It always happens quickly with them betting their life savings within a couple of weeks. I’d like to see a slow burn storyline with Howie just placing little bets which build up over time,” said another. A third agreed: “I was thinking the same thing. With him helping Patrick to win money too at the bookies, I feel it’s going this way.” “I was thinking the same, it would be good to see Howie have his own storyline but i do feel bad for him would be a shame to see him go down hill.
