What's become of Harry Mitchell?

WARNING: This article contains advance spoilers for today’s episode of EastEnders, which is streaming on BBC iPlayer now, but has yet to air on BBC One – in which the aftermath of Harry Mitchell’s drug overdose is revealed.

Harry Mitchell suffered a drug overdose in EastEnders last week, relapsing in the wake of dad Teddy’s arrest. This came after Teddy confessed to killing Okie, taking the blame for an act Harry (accidentally) committed.

Harry and the family were horrified to learn that the police would be charging Teddy with murder. And, as their week went from bad to worse, Teddy told Nicola that he’d be pleading guilty to the charges, for Harry’s sake.

Nicola returned home, where he found Harry passed out on the sofa, having suffered an overdose.

EastEnders iPlayer release reveals Harry Mitchell’s fate following drug overdose

As EastEnders continues tonight (Monday, November 17), Nicola visits Harry in hospital. He’s survived his drug overdose, and is ready to be discharged.

He returns home, still full of pain and guilt over his dad’s arrest. Nicola tells Harry that he needs to stay strong, but Harry’s having none of it – and grabs two beers from the fridge.

Harry’s overdose will ‘save’ Teddy from prison, fans predict

With Teddy still behind bars, some have predicted that Harry’s turmoil might ultimately compel his dad to fight the murder charges.

“Surely when Nicola tells him what Harry did… he’ll go through with a trial instead of risk being away from his boys for upwards of 15 years?!” wrote one fan on Reddit last week.

Another said: “I’d think this will be Teddy’s motivation. Harry needs him so he has to fight to get free. Adds more emotional stakes to the court case.”

Added a third, via X: “Harry having an overdose is surely going to help Teddy reassess his options and make him realise that a fall on his sword for Harry wasn’t the best idea.”

Will Harry’s turmoil help Teddy see sense?
