Normally mild-mannered Howie took a turn to the dark side last week after Oscar attacked Patrick. Already stewing after overhearing Kim compare him to her ex, Vincent, Howie had something to prove. And as his money problems continued to add up, he also had Denzel’s expensive festival trip to fund. Disaster struck when Oscar broke in and stole his and Patrick’s gambling winnings, leaving Patrick unconscious and Howie skint again. However, Howie figured out that Oscar was behind the robbery and, as Patrick recovered in hospital, stormed over to see Oscar and Lauren. He demanded that they hand over the stolen money, or else he’d report Oscar to the police. Backed into a corner due to Howie finding evidence of Oscar’s attack, they complied. But where is all of this headed? Some fans have speculated that Howie’s exit from the soap might be looming. And some wondered whether this might be the start of an exit from Walford for Howie and actor Delroy Atkinson. “It’s odd. It feels like an unannounced exit story. Of all of the characters to suddenly be sorta evil! He’ll get caught of course. Perhaps Oscar won’t,” wrote one fan. “I thought I was the only one who was thinking that it feels like an exit story to me they don’t always announce everyone who is leaving a show,” said another. “Feels like he is leaving to me,” a third said. Patrick returns home from hospital tonight (Monday, August 11), and is still clearly rattled by Oscar‘s attack.
