Nigel's fate revealed as he faces the music over car crash in early iPlayer release

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for today’s episode of EastEnders, which is streaming now on BBC iPlayer, but has not yet aired on BBC One – in which the fate of Nigel Bates is revealed.

Nigel learns his future in EastEnders today (Monday, November 10), as the results of his hearing are determined. Nigel found himself in hot water after being responsible for a car accident which left Jasmine and Gina grievously injured.

After coming clean to the police, he faced possible jail time, although Phil has enlisted the help of dodgy brief Ritchie to save his mate. And, as they arrive at Walford courthouse today, Nigel’s future in Walford is revealed…

But what will become of Nigel?

Nigel faces the music in EastEnders spoilers today

As tonight’s episode begins, Nigel is preparing for his day in court. However, things hit a snag when he’s unable to find his lucky tie – based on the 1980 Stephen King adaptation The Shining, by Stanley Kubrick.

Julie reveals that she’s sent it to the dry-cleaners to be cleaned, as it was covered in eggs. She heads to the launderette, where she tries – and fails – to get it back from Yolande.

Afterwards, she finds Nigel on Arthur’s bench, reminiscing about old times. As they share a tender heart-to-heart, Julie vows to be there for Nigel, come what may.

But what does the future have in store for Nigel?

Nigel’s devastated as his future is revealed

Nigel, Phil and Julie arrive at the courthouse to find Ritchie waiting. She’s got good news for the trio – the court have seen sense and decided to dismiss Nigel’s case.

No prison for Nigel, but Ritchie’s words hit hard. Hearing that they dismissed the case because he’s ‘mentally incapable.’ Ouch.

Back in Walford, Nigel continued to feel glum, in spite of effectively being off the hook. Can Phil and Julie lift Nigel’s spirits?
