Stacey fled Walford for sunny Brazil last week, following the sudden return of Max Branning to the Square. Although Stacey had decided to turn down brother Sean’s offer of a new life away from it all, the events of last week soon conspired to make her reconsider. Not least the discovery that Zoe had been seeing Max behind her back – and was trying to get rid of her so that they could be together. Done with all the drama (and who can blame her), Stacey left Walford to join Sean in Brazil. And where did this leave mum Jean? Stuck on a tube train with Priya as Stacey left, and unable to say goodbye to her daughter. Now Jean’s going to spiral,” wrote one fan on X. “I do wonder if we’re going to get another Jean bipolar episode,” said another. “Jean’s has had a rough year, emotionally, I wonder if this is trigger a bipolar episode,” a third mused, via Reddit. Another viewer said: “Why do i have a feeling Jean will spiral because she couldn’t say goodbye to Stacey.” How will Jean cope with Stacey’s absence? Earlier this year, the soap announced that Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey, would be taking an ‘extended break.’ Speaking to The Sun, Lacey revealed: “It’s time for myself and Stacey to take a rest and who knows what Stacey will get up to in her time away? Knowing Stacey, it will never be boring.” An insider from the soap added: “Lacey made the decision last year to take some time out from the show. She’s had a busy year both on and off screen, so it feels a good time to give Stacey a rest.” They added: “Lacey loves EastEnders, and it’s no secret how much EastEnders love Lacey. So it’s not a question of if she will be back, but when.” So while the door has been left open for Lacey, a return is not currently on the cards.
