Joel has been at the heart of one of the soap’s darkest storylines this year, as the teenager tumbled down a rabbit hole of toxic influencers and male misogyny. This put him on a collision course with stepmother Vicki, played by Alice, who has attempted to correct his troubling behaviour pattern. This came to a climax last month as Joel threatened to give Vicki ‘a proper slapping’ if she didn’t back off. But what does the future hold for Joel and Vicki? And how much worse is to come? As she and Ross Marshall actor Alex Walkinshaw reflected on the storyline, Alice sang Max’s praise. “It wouldn’t work without Max being brilliant; you’ve got to have a young actor who can take it on, he’s been so brave and fearless with the way he’s taken on the character,” Alice said.
