Nigel found himself in hot water after running Jasmine and Gina (but mostly Jasmine) over in a joyride gone awry. Julie attempted to cover for her husband in the wake of the accident, telling him that she’d been responsible. Nigel wasn’t buying it though, and soon found the smoking gun bloody trainers he’d been looking for. Although the police didn’t take him seriously at first, Julie eventually agreed to corroborate his statement. And, as the episode ended, the pair walked, hand-in-hand into the police station, ready to confess in full. But what does the future hold for Nigel and Julie? As many fans have pointed out, the most likely outcome of Nigel’s confession is… well, nothing. His dementia diagnosis will likely save him from jail time. “Nigel won’t go to prison not in his condition they’ll take the fact that he’s vulnerable into account,” said one viewer. “Nigel won’t be treated harshly because of his dementia, he won’t go to prison,” another agreed. “No way would Nigel be prosecuted. By getting in the car he proved he doesn’t have capacity,” said a third.
