Because absolutely nothing has happened since the big news came out, more than a year ago! Last year, it was revealed that Nicola had got pregnant during her fling with Zack – which happened years before either of them came to Albert Square. Zack wondering what the point was (Credit: BBC) EastEnders revealed Zack was dad to Barney last year Zack was keen to get to know his teenage son, but Barney wasn’t happy at first. But since then Barney’s fallen out with his mum, and moved in with Zack. Article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Their relationship was revisited this week when it was revealed Zack has money problems, despite working all hours at the pub, and had been threatened with eviction. Barney was fuming when he did some detective work and found out Zack hadn’t been completely honest with him. Just as mum Nicola had lied about family issues in the past. But despite the brief reminder of their father/son relationship this week, we’ve actually barely seen Zack and Barney together.Don't miss a single story! Occasionally they might arrange a cinema trip but that’s about it. We’ve not seen any sign of Zack being the dad Barney was talking into accepting. And with Teddy gone, there has been no fallout from the revelation. Zack’s been too busy flirting with Vicki to be a dad to Barney! (Credit: BBC) EastEnders fans are bored EastEnders fans are not impressed with the storyline, which has definitely fallen flat. “So remind me again what was the point of making Zack Barney’s dad?” one fan wrote on social media this week. “That’s what I thought,” agreed another. “I feel like Zack‘s character now is just completely pointless.” Zack is, of course, Sharon Watts’ younger brother. But Shaz hasn’t been around for ages, and Zack is a bit rudderless without her. And being Barney’s dad just isn’t cutting it with EastEnders fans. In fact, one disgruntled viewer said Zack being revealed as Barney’s dad was “literally the most pointless thing”. And another said: “It’s hard to understand what the point of making Zack Barney‘s dad was.” Teddy was Barney’s dad until Zack came along and Teddy went to jail! (Credit: BBC) We miss Teddy! We’re still a bit cross that Teddy was written out when he had so much potential, so perhaps we’re biased. But we don’t see the point either. Maybe it was just to let Nicola become a family with George and their new baby? Or perhaps it was simply to give Zack a replacement for baby Dolly, who moved away with Whitney. Either way, it’s not really working. With Barney annoyed at his new-found dad’s money woes, perhaps he’s going to move back in with Nicola and forget all this ever happened! What do you think?
