This week is a big one for EastEnders, as Zoe Slater finally makes her eagerly-awaited return to the soap after 20 years away. First teased months ago, it’s been a long road to getting Zoe back, with Alfie and Kat convinced that the wayward Slater was further away than ever.

However, Tommy succeeded where they’d both failed, and managed to track down Zoe by the end of last week. Zoe will return to Walford in EastEnders tonight (Monday, September 1), in a dramatic week for Zoe and the residents of Walford.

When is EastEnders on this week? Updated schedule revealed

Ahead of this week’s episodes, the BBC have revealed a major change to the soap’s release schedule. While it will air as usual tonight and tomorrow, there will be no 6am iPlayer release on Wednesday, when the soap will play a special episode devoted to Zoe’s story and secrets.

What’s Zoe hiding? Fans will have to wait until 7.30pm to find out, when it simulcasts on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer at the same time.

Teasing the events of Wednesday’s episode, Executive Producer Ben Wadey said: “As Zoe makes her dramatic return to Walford next week, more than one secret in her past will come to light as we look to explore the reasons behind her return, and what has happened in the past twenty years to make her the person she is today.”

As for the rest of the week, it will drop at 6am on BBC iPlayer on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as normal, before airing at 7.30pm on BBC One.
