Jonno Ben Mitchell Stuart Highway Share By Joel Harley Aug 8 2025 By Joel Harley Aug 8 2025 EastEnders announced this week that Ben Mitchell and Stuart Highway would be returning to the soap for the funeral of Jonno Highway. These brief returns will see Max Bowden and Ricky Champ reprise their roles, reuniting Ben and Stuart with their family in Walford. Giant plot holes aside (Ben’s really getting a day release from a prison in America?), viewers have been celebrating the return of these two fan-favourite characters. Played by Richard Graham, Jonno first (and last) appeared in 2019, after being contacted by Callum’s then-fiancée, Whitney Dean. A virulent homophobe, first Jonno clashed with the Mitchells after making a foul comment about gay Pride. It was later revealed that Jonno had not been a good father to his sons, and had even been violent toward Stuart in the past. He didn’t take the news that Callum had come out as gay at all well, and blamed Ben for turning his son into ‘one of them.’ During the ensuing confrontation, Jonno copped a punch from Phil, who leapt to his son’s defense in typically violent Mitchell manner. He left soon after, disowning his son before he went. Read more: Who’s leaving, joining and returning to EastEnders? Complete list of cast exits, arrivals and returns.
