Zoe resurfaced for the first time last month, but disappeared soon after revealing that she was harbouring a terrible secret. Prodigal son Anthony, meanwhile, has been absent for 11 years after last returning to Walford following his father’s heart attack. Both will rejoin the soap on a long-term basis later this year, but will EastEnders revisit their romance? And some wondered whether he and Zoe might rekindle their romance once reunited on the Square. “Anthony and Zoe again, hmmm,” mused one fan on X. Soon after arriving in Walford, Anthony found himself at the heart of a love triangle between Kat and Zoe Slater. He began dating Kat to his mother’s great disapproval, and the pair split up soon afterwards. However, Anthony wasn’t done with the Slaters just yet, and embarked upon her relationship with Kat’s teenage daughter soon afterwards. He and Zoe even got engaged, but Anthony still harboured feelings for Kat – and they slept together on what should have been his wedding day. Kat and Anthony resumed their relationship but by then, she’d developed feelings for Alfie Moon. She later discovered that she was pregnant with Anthony’s child, but suffered a miscarriage before she could tell him. Since then, all three parties are in vastly different places. Kat has just remarried Alfie for the third time, while Zoe is on the run in Spain, hiding a dark past from her family. As for Anthony, he’s said to have gotten married and moved to Scotland since we last saw him. But what feelings will his return to Walford reignite?
