With Nigel’s dementia symptoms only worsening, Phil’s been planning on getting his friend away from it all, by taking him to Portugal. This comes as a massive reversal of his earlier show of solidarity in December, when he’d agreed to send Nigel to a care home. While he initially agreed that this was what’s best for Nigel, he soon had second thoughts after visiting a facility with Julie. And, with Julie in Scotland selling her and Nigel’s home to better fund his care, Phil spotted his opportunity. And, after Sam got the all-clear from her lumpectomy, he planned to make his escape to Portugal with Nigel. However, he hit a stumbling block with the unexpected return of his nephew, Mark Jr. When Phil turns down his request for help, snaky Mark retaliates by telling a freshly-returned Julie what Phil’s been up to. He claims he’s come back to support Vicki in Joel’s trial, but later reveals his true motives when alone with Phil. However, Phil turns down Mark’s request for help. Instead, he’s more concerned with getting Nigel out of the country. He tells Mark that he has a flight booked for that very evening, so can’t stick around to help. What will Mark do next?
