What happened in Emmerdale Thursday, March 20: Ella was arrested and Joe’s transplant plan was put in motion
She pleaded her innocence
Emmerdale last night saw Ella Forster arrested for tampering with Chas’s medication. She continuously denied the accusation, but nobody believed her.
Elsewhere, Joe Tate discovered Caleb is a match and a plan for the operation was put in place.
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale, March 20.

Ella was arrested in Emmerdale last night
Following Chas’s collapse, Liam went to the pub to look for Chas’s Codeine medication. He told Ryan and Victoria that doctors think Chas overdosed on her own medication, so he wanted to check the bottle.
Victoria told Liam that she saw Ella hanging around in the back of the pub. He immediately jumped to the conclusion that Ella had tampered with Chas’s tablets.
Liam went to see Ella, who denied messing with the Codeine. She admitted to finding it hard seeing Liam with Chas but maintained her innocence. However, when Liam grabbed Ella’s bag, Chas’s engagement ring fell out of it.
Liam decided to call the police, while Ella made a run for it to Mandy’s salon. Mandy found her and convinced her to go and explain things to Chas and Liam. But when they went outside, police were already arriving on the scene.
A policeman spoke to her before deciding to arrest her. As she was dragged away, Ella screamed that she didn’t do it.

Chas gave Ella an ultimatum after she was arrested in Emmerdale
Ella was released pending further investigation. But her day went from bad to worse when Liam ordered her to leave the surgery.
Manpreet went to see Ella at the salon, where she was hiding out, and told her it’s best if they terminate her contract.
Mandy suggested Ella could go start fresh somewhere else causing Ella to have a meltdown. “I am not nothing!” she screamed as she threw her hands around, breaking salon equipment.
Mandy and Manpreet started to pity her and she explained that all her life she has been blamed and picked on for every little thing. But she insisted: “I’m not just going to disappear because it’ll be convenient for everybody.”
Later in the pub, Ella admitted to taking the ring but insisted to Chas once again that she never spiked her. Chas wasn’t interested though and told Ella if she leaves the village, she’ll tell the police to drop the case. She warned Ella, that with her history, she’d likely go to jail for quite a while if she didn’t take the offer.
Ella was suspicious and told Manpreet that she thinks Chas overdosed on her own pills and is just covering her own tracks. Ella said “Liam deserves better and I’m going to make damn sure he realises. I’m gonna make sure everyone sees Chas Dingle for who she really is.” Is she right? Did Chas mess with her own medication as a way to get rid of Ella?

Joe’s plan was put in motion
As Doctor Crowley warned Joe they were running out of time for his kidney transplant, Manpreet interrupted and had good news for Joe.
She informed Joe that Caleb conveniently went to see her. He didn’t look well so she did some tests. Before handing over the blood sample Joe had been after, Manpreet asked why couldn’t send the sample off herself. Joe told her he didn’t want her to risk her job. Manpreet of course continued to lap up his lies.
As Manpreet handed over the blood sample, Joe said: “It might just save someone’s life.” Manpreet is of course unaware that Joe was talking about his own.
About 12 seconds later, Doctor Crowley and Joe met in the pub. The sample had already been tested and the doctor informed Joe that Caleb is indeed a match.
He then said that they need to act fast. Judging by how quickly the blood sample was tested, that shouldn’t be a problem.
Doctor Crowley later told Joe that the surgery was scheduled for two days time and Joe had to being Caleb to him “unconscious”.

Ross was on the wind up again
We saw the best of Ross Barton in Thursday’s episode as his cheeky personality got everyone’s backs up.
New boy Kammy is proving to be a match for Ross. He stole Kim Tate’s horse and told Ross it was his problem now. Ross attempted to return the horse, while telling it: “No wonder they make those lasagnes out of you.”
Kim caught Ross in action. He thought on his feet and said he had stolen the horse to prove to Kim that she needed better security.
And what do you know? He’s now head of security at Home Farm.
This news of course went down like a lead balloon with Joe, who said: “Shall we just report the inside job now and save us some time? This guy’s broken more laws than I can think of.” He’ll know all the tricks then…
