Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5 episode 4 cast is a treat for fans of soaps, and The Split
The investigators have a close-to-home case to unpack when Fiona Button's character Celia shows her face

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators series 5 episode 4, A Dark House, reintroduces fans to stars of The Split and The Inbetweeners.
This instalment sees Luella Shakespeare bafflingly robbed of her house! Walking through the front door after an adventure in the Australian Outback, she discovers a stranger named Celia Touchstone in possession of her property. Grief-stricken, she’s invited to stay at partner-in-solving-crime Frank Hathaway’s flat, where a surprise pet awaits.
The duo follows a trail that leads to solicitor Oliver Silvius and estate agent Freddie Duke. Trusty techno whizz Spider is on the case too, as is their assistant Sebastian Brudenell, who tracks down another victim. Surveillance on Oliver brings them to a mystery woman, Phoebe Amiens, but it’s unclear how she’s connected to the scam.
When Oliver suddenly dies, Lu fears that she’ll never reunite with her cherished belongings. So who can we look forward to spotting in the Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5 episode 4 cast?

Darren Evans returns as Spider in the cast of Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5 episode 4
It’s not Darren Evans’ first rodeo as Spider, after he first debuted in the opening series’ 10th episode. A Dark House marks his fifth portrayal of Lu and Frank’s helper.
The 36-year-old has indie film credibility thanks to his part as Chips in Submarine – directed by The IT Crowd’s Richard Ayoade. The movie followed Craig Roberts’ teenager Oliver Tate, who pursued a romance with a classmate while trying to repair his parents’ marriage.
His other notable big-screen credits include 2011’s Hunky Dory, 2013’s The Fifth Estate and 2020’s Dream Horse.
In Being Human series 4, he briefly appeared as Dewi. Meanwhile, a recurring role as Danny Two Hats in E4 comedy-drama My Mad Fat Diary coincided with the early rise of Darren’s co-star Jodie Comer.
Short-lived historical drama The Bastard Executioner, which was created by Sons of Anarchy’s Kurt Sutter, saw him playing Ash y Goedwig. And just last month he portrayed Boots in an episode of BBC One thriller The Guest. Gangs of London fans will recognise him as the character Ioan too.

The Split star Fiona Button plays Celia Touchstone
The interloper our beloved private eyes must contend with is played by none other than Fiona Button. The Split fans will know her as Rose Defoe, a role she played between 2018 and 2024.
After starring as Lucy Bedford in the ITV fictional royal family drama The Palace, she made waves as Lip Service’s Tess Roberts. Lip Service depicted the trials and tribulations of a group of lesbian Glaswegians and aired for two series.
The 40-year-old (born in Switzerland) later joined the cast of Grantchester as Jennifer Chambers. But most recently, she showed up as Sophie Asquith-Gore in episodes of Dope Girls. That series adapted Marek Kohn’s non-fiction book Dope Girls: The Birth of the British Drug Underground.
Fiona was also Denise Oldroyd in season 3 of Industry, and Kate in Channel 4’s Truelove too. While sketch show lovers will remember her work in Cardinal Burns which aired for two series before ending in 2014.

Matt Di Angelo from EastEnders is a key character in Shakespeare & Hathaway
Matt Di Angelo climbs aboard the good ship Shakespeare & Hathaway as slimy estate agent Freddie Duke.
Originally cast as Dean Wicks in EastEnders almost two decades ago, the now 38-year-old from Enfield made a semi-permanent home for himself on the soap on and off until 2024. He has 450 episodes to his name – that’s some going!
Outside of the never-dull East End, TV watchers have enjoyed his performances in Hustle (as Sean Kennedy) across the con drama’s fifth, sixth, seventh and eight series. He also appeared in BBC One’s Ordinary Lies in 2016.
Earlier on in his career, Matt introduced himself to a wholly different kind of fanbase by partnering up with professional choreographer Flavia Cacace on Strictly Come Dancing in 2007. They finished as runners-up behind Alesha Dixon and Matthew Cutler in the end. So close but yet so far from Glitterball heaven…

Soap star Michael Higgs plays character Oliver Silvius
U&Alibi’s cosy crime drama’s latest slab dweller is portrayed by another EastEnders regular, Michael Higgs.
He was the iconic soap’s antagonist Andy Hunter, making 175 appearances before being thrown off a motorway bridge in 2005. Prior to that, the now 63-year-old from Birmingham regularly appeared on our screens as PC Eddie Santini in The Bill.
Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies would later hire Michael for the series Wizards vs Aliens – running for three series until 2014 – while his police procedural experience comes via BBC One’s WPC 56.
Staying in the crime genre, the star recently joined long-running detective title Shetland as the two-episode character Rob Harding, and was part of the cast of 2001 prison drama Bad Girls.
He’s been equally comfortable dipping in and out of ongoing programmes like Sister Boniface Mysteries, Casualty, and Silent Witness.

Who plays Audrey Martext in Shakespeare & Hathaway?
Doctors stalwart Jan Pearson stars as Audrey Martext in episode4 of Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5. Audrey is a previous victim of the house takeover ruse who crosses paths with Sebastian in this episode.
Up until 2023, the 66-year-old from the West Midlands was a mainstay on the aforementioned medical soap. She played Karen Hollins before a fatal heart attack twist closed the curtain on her lengthy reign. Jan’s first appearance as Karen came about in 2009 after she’d previously played a few one-off characters.
At the 2010 and 2023 British Soap Awards, she walked away as Best On-Screen Partnership winner together with Rob Hollins actor Chris Walker.
Kath Shaughnessy was another big presence across Jan’s TV career. This was her alter-ego for four years in Holby City, who ended her storyline on a happy note by moving away with Larry Phillips.
Where the Heart Is, The Cops and Silent Witness are other programmes the actress has popped up in.

Actress Emily Head stars as Phoebe in the cast of Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5 episode 4.
Known to a generation of comedy fans as Simon Cooper’s object of desire Carli D’Amato in The Inbetweeners, the Fulham-born 36-year-old was also present in the first cinematic spin-off. Despite his continuously painful efforts, Simon and Carli never properly got together.
Away from awkward teen material, Emily branched out into soaps thanks to roles in Doctors and Emmerdale. For the latter, she landed 304 credits as Rebecca White, who died from surgical complications off-screen in 2018.
Three years later, BBC One’s The Syndicate had her onboard as Colette Andrews for six episodes. Then, crime drama Whitstable Pearl featured Emily in the role of DCI Mike McGuire’s girlfriend Kat Bergman.
