Doctor Who actress Alex Kingston has signed up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, according to reports.

Alex, who also starred in US medical drama ER, is said to have “jumped at the chance” of being given a spot in the line-up.

Last year, Alex’s showbiz friend Sarah Hadland, 54, made it to the final of Strictly.

It has been claimed Sarah’s success is what convinced Alex, 62, to agree to the BBC show.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Bosses are delighted to have snapped up Alex.

“She’s a real talent and will add a lot. It’s always exciting to have a prestigious actress on the cast.”

Alex played The Time Lord’s wife River Song in Doctor Who from 2008 to 2015. She had previously played the role of Dr. Elizabeth Corday in American drama ER.

Alex portrayed Dr. Elizabeth from 1997 to 2005 and starred alongside Hollywood actor George Clooney.

Previously married to actor Ralph Fines, Alex’s other credits include Netflix‘s Treason, BBC’s Lucifer and ITV’s Douglas is Cancelled.
