Owen Armstrong returning to Coronation Street
It was announced that Owen’s return would air in January, with actor Ian Puleston-Davies set to begin filming this week.
It has been revealed that Owen heads back to Weatherfield following Gary’s recent prison sentence, as he wants to be there to help Izzy.
However, Owen is still incredibly protective of his family and is livid with Gary for causing such chaos. Owen therefore decides it is best to move back in with Izzy.
Speaking about his return, Ian explained: “I can’t wait to pick up where I left off over ten years ago! It’s brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen’s back and he’s still angry!”
But with Owen still having issues with Gary, Coronation Street fans fear he might be back with bad intentions.
Fans predict dark Ross alliance for Owen
When Coronation Street producer Kate Oates spoke about Owen’s return, she explained that he would form an “unlikely alliance”. Now, Coronation Street fans are convinced that alliance will be with Ross.
Ross is currently embroiled in a toxic masculinity storyline, which has just started to merge with Gary’s prison story. Ross is the prison guard in Gary’s wing and has even promised to look out for him.
But last night’s episode (October 27) saw Ross inform Gary that he owes him a favour. With fans suspecting Ross will work against Gary, many believe a team-up with Owen is on the horizon.
One fan penned: “I really hope Owen’s alliance isn’t with Ross, but I could see them pairing up against Gary.”
Another added: “Unlikely alliance? That’s going to be Ross isn’t it? Owen was a bit of a bully years ago, so they could get on.”
“Owen’s going to team up with Ross and both of them are going to make Gary suffer. Ross has access to him directly on the inside, and Owen will have access to manipulate Izzy and Maria on the outside,” a third penned.
