Coronation Street fans have been left rather confused over Sarah Platt’s continued protection of Gary Windass.

Sarah Platt has been arrested and charged and is now sitting in prison awaiting a trial for the murder of Theo.

However, she’s yet to tell the police that Gary Windass helped her to cover up the murder.

Sarah protects Gary in Coronation Street

Viewers will know that Sarah Platt killed Theo Silverton and then phoned Gary Windass in her hour of need. Gary then helped her cover up the murder by giving her an alibi and disposing of the murder weapon.

Sarah was recently arrested and charged, with Kit reminding her that she could go to prison for a long time if she didn’t listen to his advice. He couldn’t see Harry grow up without his mum, telling Sarah to be honest with the police about killing Theo.

She would need to make the jury believe that she did it in self defence. But, she’d also need to tell them that the cover-up was Gary’s idea.

Despite the position she’s in and the future she faces behind bars away from her family, Sarah’s insisted on not bringing Gary down with her.

Gary was the one who tried to rescue her and save the day, although Kit reminded her that he clearly didn’t do a good enough job at covering the murder up as she’d now landed herself in prison.

With more evidence stacking up against Sarah though, fans don’t understand why she doesn’t listen to Kit. He definitely knows how the system works.

Fans baffled over Sarah’s decision to protect Gary

Fans don’t understand why Sarah is still protecting Gary. She’d come off better if she told the police the truth. If they’ve already found evidence on Sarah, it will only be a matter of time before they work out that Gary was involved too.

One viewer on X commented: “Why is Sarah still protecting Gary? She needs to tell Lisa the full story, as Lisa has nearly figured it out anyway and it’s going to make Sarah’s situation even worse if that’s even possible.”

Another person added: “Sarah’s really going to make things worse for herself to protect Gary.”

A final person added: “Sarah is too worried about protecting Gary but I do agree with her turning herself in.”

Will Sarah tell the police the complete truth? Or, will she leave Gary out of it?
