Emmerdale fans ‘in tears’ as ITVX early release confirms huge character dead in one of the ‘most heartbreaking scenes ever’

Emmerdale has aired the shocking outcome of the wedding after Jimmy King drove his car into the marquee. And heartbreakingly it is confirmed in today’s ITVX episode that Jimmy is dead in Emmerdale.
The heartbreaking scenes play out in today’s episode (August 27), and fans who have watched the early release were left “in tears”.
Jimmy King dead in Emmerdale early release
For the last few months, reports have been everywhere that Jimmy King was being killed off. But Emmerdale never confirmed nor denied this.
So, while fans inevitably knew it was coming, nothing could’ve prepared them for such heartbreaking scenes.
After crashing into the marquee, Jimmy realised he was stuck in the car and bleeding pretty badly. Thankfully, it was Nicola who spotted the crash, and once she heard her husband was involved, she wasted no time in climbing into the car with him.
Heartbreakingly, Nicola and Jimmy both realised it wasn’t likely he would be making it out of the car. So, they sat together and he surprised her with a new eternity ring, and told her about his plans for their vow renewal.
Then, a beautifully heartbreaking dream sequence showed us what the future could have held for them as they exchanged their vows and danced together.
But in a flash that was all ripped away as we came back to reality, where Jimmy King was already dead in Emmerdale. And just like Nicola, we were all distraught.
Fans left ‘in tears’ after heartbreaking scenes
The tragic scenes left Emmerdale viewers in tears. Not only has Jimmy been in the village for 22 years, he was part of a whole empire of the show.
Now, all of the King brothers have died. And on top of that, Jimmy and Nicola were a solid, legendary Emmerdale couple. So, it’s no doubt that the future will be quite dark for her for some time.
While there had been quite a few hints recently that Jimmy’s time was nearly up, nobody was prepared for just how sad the scenes would be.
Taking to social media after watching the early episode, fans shared their heartbreak.
One penned: “I am in tears. That was so emotional. What an end of an era. I’m glad Jimmy and Nicola had such a beautiful ending scene. But it’s so hard to imagine them not together anymore.”
Another added: “Jimmy and Nicola’s scenes were heartbreaking. Nick and Nicola were amazing as always and I will miss the King’s dynamics on my screen.”
“Well that was absolutely heartbreaking. Jimmy King you will always be a legend” another sad fan commented.
What happens next remains to be seen, but tonight’s episode also ended with a huge explosion. So could another death be heading our way?
