Myron Gaines wrote ‘revolting’ book before Louis Theroux doc and the reviews are shocking: ‘86 pages of hate’

One part of the book claims to translate "Womanese"

Myron Gaines is one of the most controversial influencers in Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere. Years before the documentary, he wrote a book that was branded “disgusting” and “revolting”.

Gaines (real name Amrou Fudl) appears throughout the Netflix doc. Theroux interviews him with his ex, Angie, and he also appears on his Fresh and Fit podcast, where he called out the spreading of misinformation.

He’s been particularly critical of the doc, threatening to “expose” Theroux for seemingly editing out “context-critical” material from their time together (even though that doesn’t appear to be the case).

While Gaines may have gained more notoriety off the back of his appearance in the film, he was already a contentious figure. Notably, he wrote a “best-selling” book.

Myron Gaines’ controversial book: Why Women Deserve Less

Why Women Deserve Less, Gaines’ 86-page book, was released in 2023. According to its Amazon listing, it “highlights the ways in which women are benefiting unfairly at nearly every man’s expense”.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, given Gaines’ rhetoric. In the documentary, he can be heard talking about how women are “born with value” on account of their breasts and genitals.

We’ve picked out a few quotes from the book, to give you the gist of what it’s like:

  • “You are hard-wired to want women, love, sex, and (for most of us) children. To deny your nature damns you to lead a miserable and unfulfilled life, which is what many modern women have foolishly done today.”
  • “Nearly every man today is accused of unconsciously being a sexist or misogynist, benefiting from the evil ‘patriarchy’ that oppresses women daily. Yet most women don’t even know what misogyny means!”
  • “The false rape accusations on college campuses of the 2010s did nothing to foster loving relations between men and women.”
  • “Women know you want sex more than they do. Women know you want them more than they do you. And this imbalance in power allows many of them to ‘negotiate in bad faith.'”

There is also a section that translates “I don’t need a man” from “Womanese” to English.

It does include a disclaimer. “This book does not call for refusing to help your fellow human if it’s a woman. Nor does it call for refusing to work, interact, or socialise with women in society,” the opening pages read.

“It is to prevent you from wasting your resources on the unreciprocated romantic pursuit of women to the point it ruins your life.”

‘Why is it okay to sell this?’

If you look at its Amazon reviews, it has over 1,800 five-star ratings. One reader called it “eye-opening”, while another “red-pill enthusiast” said it “reaffirmed their belief that women are here only to serve us men”.

However, elsewhere, the book sparked an outcry for its “misogynistic” and “hateful” content, with people questioning why it was permitted for sale in the first place.

“I want to throw up,” one user wrote after looking at the book. “Men that are reading and believing such bs don’t need to question why they are single. They would freak if that quote would be reversed and still don’t understand why such statements are revolting.”

Another user – who reportedly received a warning from Amazon after leaving a negative review – described the book as “86 pages of hate”.

“Why is it okay to sell damaging content? What kind of process does Amazon put their sellers through to ensure they’re not selling something that illicits violence or hate?” they wrote.

One Redditor pointed out that it’s shorter than some kids books, like several entries in the Goosebumps series. “Except it’s way scarier,” another user quipped.

Others called Gaines an “idiot” and branded the book’s contents “disgusting”.

“Books like this should be shadowbanned, not promoted,” one user argued.
