Nasty accident that saw Simon Cowell replaced by Stacey Solomon on BGT tonight
He tripped down the stairs and bashed his head, he later revealed
Stacey Solomon joined the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel tonight (March 21), but why has she replaced BGT boss Simon Cowell?
Tonight’s show looked a little different from recent episodes, because Simon was missing from the panel as the episode opened.
Instead, he was replaced by Stacey Solomon, with Amanda Holden taking the head judge’s seat. Alesha Dixon and KSI were back on the panel as usual.
Why Simon Cowell is not on BGT tonight
At the top of the show, hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly addressed Simon’s absence. They revealed that he was unwell, so wouldn’t be at the recording. Instead, Stacey would fill the empty seat on the panel.
But what was wrong with Simon, and why wasn’t he on tonight’s BGT?
“Where’s Simon?” asked one viewer. “Where’s Simon? Missed the start,” said a second.
“Simon not even on the show tonight? The entire panel need to be upgraded. Lose the live audience aka ticket sales. Live shows only! You get enough for advert revenue. Bring it back to basics, it’s a snooze fest,” said another.
‘Seeing Amanda in Simon’s seat is weird’
Meanwhile others commented to question the order the judges were sat in on the panel. “Amanda sitting where Simon would normally sit…” said one. “Weird,” another agreed.

“Seeing Amanda sat in Simon’s seat is so weird,” a third agreed.
Others gave their verdict on Stacey’s appearance on the panel. “Odd choice for a judge,” one commented of The X Factor alum. “Stacey is annoying me already,” said a second. “I love her,” said a third.
“Don’t know why all the people who complain just don’t watch!” another posted.
So why was Simon missing from BGT tonight?
The opening day of auditions in Birmingham was postponed after Simon fell ill, with Stacey stepping in so that auditions could go ahead the following day.
Breaking his silence about what happened when he returned to the panel the following day – which played out in the second half of the show tonight – Simon shared that he’d had an accident: “I fell down some steps and I bumped my head. But I’m fine now.
“True story,” he added, and even had a graze on his head to prove it.
