The Mystery of Rome's Sunken City
Documentary examining the 2017 discovery of underwater ruins along the Tunisian coast that were once a vital Roman outpost, known as Neapolis. Evidence suggests that the metropolis was not completely destroyed, and that its inhabitants attempted to rebuild the city, but a geological phenomenon called liquefaction doomed these efforts. As the land under the city turned into quicksand, the harbour was gradually submerged. Now, more than a millennium since it disappeared, this new discovery is restoring Neapolis's reputation as a jewel in the crown of the Roman Empire
