Warning: This article contains spoilers for Wednesday’s episode of EastEnders, which is streaming now on BBC iPlayer but has not yet aired on BBC One – in which a final ‘tribute’ to Martin is unveiled.

EastEnders revealed its final tribute to late fruit n’ veg salesman Martin Fowler in today’s episode of the soap – streaming now on BBC iPlayer, but won’t air on BBC One until Wednesday – as grieving Stacey finally began to move on.

Martin’s fruit and veg pitch has remained vacant since his death in February, after he was crushed to death in a catastrophic explosion at The Queen Vic. Trapped inside as the pub crumbled, he and Stacey fought their way to the exit… only to grow distracted by her expression of love.

It was then (and there) that a beam fell, trapping Martin and crushing his leg. He was still alive when emergency services arrived on the scene. However, he died of shock as the beam was removed from his leg.

With the iconic stall out of business ever since, the soap has finally revealed what’s to become of Martin’s pitch.

Early EastEnders iPlayer release confirms the future of Martin’s stall

As the episode began, Stacey found Ian looking over the For Sale sign at The Vic. As they reminisced, talk turned to Martin’s pitch.

He was keen to re-open, but Stacey still wasn’t ready. However, she was receptive to some words of wisdom from Eve, who encouraged her to think of the stall’s history, and its place on the Square.

Given food for thought, she told Ian that she’d changed her mind – and agreed that the stall should be re-opened. “I thought it would be disrespectful to see someone else standing here,” she told him. “But seeing it like this, day in, day out… maybe that’s even worse.”

It looks like the fruit and veg stall is back in business, then! But who will be running it?
