Last week Denise was devastated to learn her son Raymond, who she gave up for adoption, had been involved in a car crash. Sadly Raymond’s adoptive parents and sibling had been killed, leaving the toddler orphaned. Denise has secretly been visiting Raymond in hospital and met the little boy’s grandmother. Denise found out Raymond’s family died (Credit: BBC) But fans have accused the soap of reusing a similar storyline, which happened in 2005. Back in 2002, Bex Fowler, who was known as Chloe then, was given up for adoption. She was adopted by Neil and Sue Miller, who changed her name to Rebecca. But was unaware that the couple had split due to Sonia’s adultery. I see EastEnders is reusing an old plot with Denise and her adopted son, Raymond. When Margaret found out the truth she was furious. However she died not long later after and Pauline and Martin took in Bex. EastEnders: Recycled storylines But this isn’t the first time viewers have accused the soap of recycling storylines. Fans accused the soap of recycling a storyline last year (Credit: BBC) Last year, a trailer aired which showed Phil Mitchell had been attacked. At the time of the trailer airing, no one knew who the culprit was and compared it to the 2001 whodunit storyline ‘Who shot Phil?’ But when the episode aired, it was revealed that Stacey Fowler was the one who attacked Phil. EastEnders: What’s next for Phil, Denise and Raymond? Next week Phil goes to see Raymond again in hospital and immediately feels a bond with the little boy as he strikes up a conversation with Ellie.
