After just two months Emmerdale fans are over Graham's return: 'What a letdown'

What has Graham really done?

It’s been a little more than two months since Graham Foster made his return to Emmerdale – and fans are calling it a complete ‘letdown’.

At the time of his comeback viewers were hailing it as ‘sensational’ insisting the soap had nailed it. Excitement grew and grew – what would he do, who would he be with, and WHAT was his connection to Corrie’s Jodie?

But so far, what has he done? Very little indeed. And fans are fed-up.

Graham returns to Emmerdale

It was the most unexpected comeback ever in the Dales. After all, Graham had been dead and we’d all seen the body going mouldy in a pile of leaves.

But there he was during Corriedale with Jodie Ramsey in the back of his van and watching Joe Tate at the hospital. When Graham reappeared again later in January it was revealed he had come back to Emmerdale to help Rhona with April.

He explained how he had faked his own death, been helped by the police to get away and had gone to Mexico to start fresh. He said he’d done it to protect Rhona from Kim Tate who had ordered Graham to be killed.

The chemistry sizzled between him and Rhona and it was clear she was torn. Then he revealed himself to Joe Tate, who came to forgive him.

Graham settled back into life at Home Farm, much to Kim’s disgust and resumed his position as Joe’s right-hand man.

What has Graham added since his return?

But apart from stressing Rhona out over her feelings, what exactly had Graham done? It had so much promise, so much build-up, and he’s done nothing.

He slept with Kim then was nasty to her saying it was a mistake. He stands there and takes whatever Joe throws at him, even the nastiest and most belittling comments, without so much as saying boo.

Tonight (Friday March 20) he acted to track missing Dylan down. He then bribed the postman to hand over the letter Dylan had sent confessing to Ray’s murder.

Graham did it all for Rhona and she was very grateful. As he made moony eyes at her across the bar, she made a show of being affectionate with her husband.

Joe Tate clocked Graham’s interest in Rhona though and realised Graham has stuck around to pursue her. But will he get her back?

Fans call Graham’s comeback a ‘letdown’

On social media, viewers have not been impressed with Graham’s return so far. One Reddit user commented: “I was quite pleased to see Graham come back but he’s been a letdown. I don’t get the attraction at all he’s so miserable all the time and his voice is just weird. He wears the same clothes all the time and I don’t know why but I get the impression he might smell a bit like mothballs!”

Someone else agreed: “Graham should be the best character in the show, he’s not. They should get him with Kim and give Joe Tate a rude awakening.”

“He’s boring and wasn’t worth bringing back from the dead,” added a third.

A fourth said: “I think Graham is a lot better when he is not around Joe and Kim.”

“It’s only a letdown because the writing is amateurish,” sighed a fifth.

Tonight’s episode saw Graham in a more interesting light – being away from playing Joe’s lapdog. Perhaps this is what Emmerdale needs to do to fix their Graham problem. Or at the very least expose him as plotting to bring spoilt Joe down a peg or two.
