In Emmerdale tonight (Wednesday May 14) Billy Fletcher realised how in love with Joe his estranged wife Dawn is and decided to give her an ultimatum.

Elsewhere, Jacob had a lapse in judgement as he momentarily considered killing Joe Tate – many a villager has been there, Jacob!

Here’s a full rundown of what happened in Emmerdale on Wednesday.

Billy threatened Dawn in Emmerdale tonight

After agreeing to work together in order to protect Dawn from prison, Billy quickly did a U-turn and threatened to be the one to throw Dawn to the wolves.

Kim encouraged Dawn to go with her to visit Joe in hospital as it was obvious she still loved him. But Dawn insisted she needed to focus on Billy and the kids now. “Whatever I want doesn’t matter now,” she said. Unbeknown to Dawn, Billy had heard every word.

Later, Billy told Dawn they needed to talk. He demanded to know if she was in love with Joe. When Dawn finally admitted it, Billy was overcome with clarity and realised he couldn’t trust her.

He told Dawn he doesn’t want to live at Home Farm and slated her for being willing to live there with the guy who threatened their daughter.

Billy then used the knowledge that she pushed Joe to issue her an ultimatum: “If you don’t want to go to prison… I want full custody of our kids.”

Dawn, of course, was adamant that that couldn’t happened, shouting: “You are not taking my children.” But Billy insisted that if Joe doesn’t throw her to the wolves when he wakes up then he will do it himself “unless I get the kids”. What will Dawn do?

Jacob and Kerry in Emmerdale

Jacob considered killing Joe

Kerry was curious about why Jacob was going to work so early, but he reassured her everything was OK.

However, once at the hospital, Jacob took himself off to Joe’s room and shut the door. As he looked at the machines keeping Joe alive, he experienced flashbacks of the moment he discovered his mum had died. He took deep breaths in an attempt to keep the anger at bay.

Meanwhile, after a chat with Tracy about Jacob being in same place as Joe Tate, Kerry quickly hurried to the hospital. She found Jacob on the floor in Joe’s hospital room. He told her he couldn’t kill him “but I wanted to”.

He admitted to Kerry: “I looked at the machines and I thought ‘it’d be so easy’. I mean, it might not have worked, but I wanted to do something, anything, to make him suffer.”

Kerry comforted him as she told him: “Ever since I found out he was responsible for the crash, I have dreamt about topping him. But you know what? Scumbags like Joe Tate are not worth it.”

Jacob told Kerry he isn’t fit to be a doctor as they’re taught in medical school about being impartial at all times and treating people they don’t think deserve to live.

Kerry insisted Jacob had to carry on and be the doctor his mum dreamt he’d be, but will Jacob get through this blip?

Moira and Ross in Emmerdale

Moira had news for Ross in Emmerdale tonight

After briefly hiding the letter addressed to “the family of Emma Barton” Moira came clean to Ross about the letter and him having a secret half brother. Ross thought it was a joke and walked out.

Moira tracked Ross down and tried to talk to him, explaining: “She must’ve had him when she disappeared all those years ago.”

Ross responded: “It would’ve been nice if she had mentioned it.” But he insisted he didn’t give a stuff and didn’t want to meet him.

However, Matty seemed to have a bit more luck later and Ross appeared to be coming round to the idea of meeting Lewis. Especially when he realised that as he has no money, it’s unlikely that Lewis is wanting to rob him…

Mack continued his battle against John

With the paintballing stag do event coming up, Mack is determined to get one up on John. When Matty asked what the big deal between the pair was, Mack didn’t mince his words as he simply replied: “Don’t like him.”

Mack encouraged Matty to come with him for some target practice as he needed to beat “GI John”.

After a practice session, they headed to the pub, where John mocked Mack by asking if he had been practising and pointing out the paint on his jacket

Later, Mack showed Matty a toy water gun he had ordered. He sprayed Matty with water before telling him: “You’re a carbon coby of what GI John is going to look like tomorrow. Except tomorrow it’ll be paint.” Boys and their toys…

He didn’t stop there though, as he told Matty: “Tomorrow, I’ve got another little surprise for Sergeant Sugden. He’s not gonna know what hit him.” What is Mack up to?

Bear thought Mandy and Paddy were packing his things (Credit: ITV)

Bear got the wrong end of the stick in Emmerdale tonight

After Liam left to move in with Chas, Bear was concerned that Mandy and Paddy would want him out too so that they could have their own “love nest.”

He informed them that he has been looking for somewhere else to stay, then commented that his stuff has gone from his room because they clearly want him gone.

Mandy and Bear found Bear on the swing and told him they haven’t cleared his room out, they’ve just moved his stuff to Liam’s room because it’s bigger.

Feeling like an idiot Bear told them: “I really thought you wanted shot of us. And it hurt. Because I’m fond of my little family. I know I came late to it, but I was heartbroken when I thought it were ending.” Too cute.
