Robert is clearly showing the strain right now after being blackmailed by Joe Tate. And despite efforts to do the right thing, and getting Moira out of prison, it’s clear Rob is far from okay. Robert and Aaron rescued Moira this week (Credit: ITV) Robert on edge in Emmerdale Knowing he was responsible for Moira’s imprisonment after Joe blackmailed him into planting the ID documents, Robert has been unable to live with the guilt. Last week, when it was revealed Moira was pleading guilty in order to get a lighter sentence, Robert cracked and confessed to Aaron. He then insisted he was going to hand himself in to the police. However the boys managed to find new evidence in a storage unit. It was enough to get the CPS to drop the charges against Moira, so Aaron told Robert he had no need to hand himself in. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers But it’s clear Robert is still struggling under the weight of the guilt. He was troubled when Cain thanked him for saving Moira’s skin and deeply uncomfortable with the praise. Moira has been released at last (Credit: ITV) Moira freed in Emmerdale Tonight (Thursday April 16) Cain was feeling overwhelmed as the family fussed, but then Moira appeared, released from prison and reunited with her love. After a tearful visit to the remains, she found herself up at her old farm. Robert was surprised to see her and clearly very uncomfortable as she too heaped praise on him. They were interrupted by Joe, who arrived coincidentally at the same time as the barn caught fire. As Moira raced to put it out, it was clear Robert was under pressure. He hesitated before going in and didn’t quite know what to do. Moira took charge and they put out the flames. Joe then suggested someone was targeting Moira due to the human trafficking charges. It was clear to everyone else it was Joe, but Moira was terrified at the implication. Robert is clearly in pain (Credit: ITV) Fears for Robert grow in Emmerdale Robert stepped in and tried to calm things, he shared a look with Joe knowing all-too-well he was behind it. However, Rob was obviously struggling with it all and the pained look on his face has got fans worried. “I saw Robert freeze in that barn fire…I SAW IT!” shouted one on social media. Another said: “Robert’s traumatised ass just standing there doing nothing,” to which someone else reminded them: “Can you blame him after Sarah?” It was of course referring to his stepmother, the original Sarah Sugden, who died in a barn fire. “Barn fire…started by Joe, that’s really going to help Robert’s traumas isn’t it?” raged a fourth. Discussions of Robert’s mental health continued, with another fan saying: “We have a feeling Robert is heading for a nervous breakdown, he looks very edgy. Ryan Hawley is absolutely brilliant.” “I think about Robert from this past week and how he’s reacting to stuff and think of how perfect it would be to focus on his mental health and dive into his prison trauma and his guilt,” suggested someone else.
