His kidney heist a success, Joe Tate seemingly fled the country in Emmerdale on Monday, March 31. However, with his affair with Dawn weighing heavily on his mind, it was touch and go there for a while.

And, as Dawn took her frustration out on Billy, she revealed to Kim her fears that their marriage might be beyond salvation.

Meanwhile, Marlon couldn’t keep quiet any longer, and revealed the truth to April about the ketamine and Dylan’s letter.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale Monday.

Caleb chatted with Joe in Emmerdale

Caleb was awake and looking good, considering everything he’s been through. As Ruby lay by his side, the pair seemed closer than ever. The man who’d been arrested for his stabbing still hadn’t been charged though, leaving Caleb wondering why the police were dragging their feet.

Steph paid her dad a visit, with Ross in tow. She informed her parents that Ross knew all about Anthony’s abuse, while he offered to help track down those responsible for Caleb’s attack.

Next up was a visit from Cain. As they shared a brotherly chat, the visits kept coming, and a police officer popped by to reassure him that they were doing all they could. Not particularly confident in the police’s abilities, Caleb told Cain that he planned to ‘sort it’ if the authorities couldn’t.

Later, he shared a video call with Joe, who was claiming to be on a work trip in America. In an attempt to explain his pallor, Joe claimed to have been up late, before querying how the police were getting along.

Hanging up, Joe returned his attention to Doctor Crowley – who informed him that the police had released minion Sean, and that he’d packed him off on a flight to Thailand. Joe’s car, meanwhile, had been discreetly delivered back to Home Farm.

Loose ends tied up, Joe’s own exit was nigh, with a flight booked to Dubai and doctors waiting for him when he lands. Clearly eager to be done with his problem patient, the doctor’s keen to wash of his hands of it all… but will it be that simple?

Dawn opened up to Kim… and lashed out at Billy

Billy needed help with the kids so he could shoot off to work, but Dawn was busy organising a shooting weekend at Home Farm (that’s what we’re calling it now). She took out her Joe-shaped frustration on Billy, reminding him of his illicit Internet activities.

Kim’s arrival didn’t calm Dawn’s mood either, and – after describing him as a ‘pervert’ – she filled her in on what Billy had been up to. Kim was well aware of what the real issue was and, once Billy had left, reminded Dawn that she should be concentrating on repairing her marriage rather than stewing over Joe.

Returning home, Billy attempted to get through to Dawn, who remained in a mood. He suggested counselling but Dawn remained dismissive, re-iterating that something needed to change… she just didn’t know what.

Joe made a decision in Emmerdale

Later, Kim tried again to get through to Dawn, beseeching that she stick with her man and their kids. Looking for excuses, Dawn hit back with a shopping list of all Billy’s recent misdeeds, from the dirty messages to his underground boxing ring.

It was then that she admitted the truth… she doesn’t know if she loves Billy.

Meanwhile, as he prepared to leave, Joe gazed fondly at a picture of Dawn on his phone. Decision made, he deleted her from his contacts and instructed his driver to take him away.

Marlon revealed the truth about Dylan

Rhona reiterated to Marlon that he should speak to April about what she’d gotten up to at Arthur’s. Scared that a confrontation might cause her to run off again, he was reluctant.

Arriving home from school, April was unrepentant. Over sandwiches, Marlon tentatively questioned his daughter, while Rhona began to apply the pressure. April hit back, reminding her of her issues with addiction and child abduction. She then stormed out, leaving Rhona despairing at Marlon’s timidity.

He found his daughter outside, stressing how worried he was about her. She admitted that she’d been missing Dylan, and turned to Kai for comfort. Worrying that she’d never see him again, her torment led Marlon to tell the truth about planting the drugs.

She took it about as well as you’d expect, storming back home where she exploded at both Marlon and Rhona. Continuing to dig a hole, Marlon showed her the letter he’d kept a secret – and read – behind her back.

Nicola drove a wedge between Brenda on Pollard

Watching as Brenda and Pollard joked together, Nicola worried that she was about to lose her free around the world cruise. With Pollard having bought them both tickets to a talk about Brontës, Nicola ran over to stick her oar in, distracting Brenda with talk of paninis and judo exams in an attempt to keep the pair apart.

Desperate to keep them apart, she continued to drip her poison in Brenda’s ear, suggesting he might have an ulterior motive for his fondness.
