Emmerdale's Joe serious

Emmerdale spoilers have confirmed that a Joe Tate whodunnit is set to air next week, but who are the suspects?

In the official line-up we have Noah, Kerry, Cain, Ruby, Caleb, Charity, Billy, Dawn and Clemmie.

But, fans have now added several other names onto the list that shouldn’t be ruled out.

1. Matty

One person who deserves to be added to the list is Matty Barton.

His wife Amy sadly died shortly after falling through the ice in the limo crash. The crash only happened because Charity swerved Noah who was stumbling into the road, ending up in a frozen lake.

And, Joe was the one behind Noah’s state – spiking him in a bid to get his kidney. If Matty finds out all of this, it’s likely he won’t be best pleased…

One fan on Reddit suggested: “Could be Matty.”

Emmerdale Joe whodunnit suspects 2. Ice the Horse

A more wild theory is that Ice the Horse will strike again. With the whodunnit being based at Home Farm, we shouldn’t rule this one out.

Ice has killed a Dales villain before, so he could easily do it again.

One fan wrote: “Not pictured, but I’m routing for, Ice.”

Another person agreed: “Kim’s horse again. He has a taste for blood now and no one is safe.”

3. Dr Crowley

Dr Crowley was a good mate of Joe’s (mate meaning that he was paying him a decent wage to partner in his schemes).

However, he might be forced to take drastic action in a bid to keep his name clear.

One fan commented: “CALLING IT NOW, YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST – It will be NONE of these characters. Yes, Joe has ruffled feathers with all of them at some point or another. But I think it’s will be Doctor Crowley who comes back with vengeance…”

4. John

John Sugden enjoys putting people in danger, seemingly having a huge hero complex. We’ve seen him put many characters in danger just so he can save them. Jacob, Chas and Liam have all been oblivious to John’s games, and well… Nate lost his life as a result. Unlucky.

So, it isn’t out of the question that John would put Joe in danger just so he could play the hero.

One fan wondered: “John might want to save someone else.”

5. Lucas

With sister Clemmie in the line-up, Lucas should also get a look in. He would be as equally angry about Joe and Dawn having an affair and splitting their family up.

“Lucas could find out about the affair too.”

Emmerdale Joe whodunnit suspects 6. Steph

Steph’s not in a good headspace right now over the whole Anthony paternity truth. We don’t blame her.

But, could she take her anger out on Joe when she finds out all about Joe almost robbing her of her dad Caleb?

One fan on Reddit noted: “Steph could want to avenge her dad’s stabbing.”

7. Jacob

Number seven on the list is Jacob. For a similar reason as Matty, Jacob also lost someone in the limo crash – his mum, Leyla.

While Jacob is studying hard to save lives, could he go against everything he believes in and strike?

One fan wondered: “I couldn’t work out who the woman in the red dress was at first, then Kerry up close. She’s the only suspect who’s a relative of someone who died in the limo crash. Thought there’d be others, like Matty and Jacob.”

8. Kim

A final suspect is Kim Tate – the Queen of Home Farm. While she looks to be very much on Team Joe at the moment, we know from past experiences that we should never take that at face value.

It seems strange that the whodunnit is set in Home Farm yet the owner of Home Farm herself isn’t an official suspect…

One viewer stated: “The fact Kim isn’t in the lineup seems sketchy, and makes me think that whatever it is, she did it.”
