Shondie is on call as first shepherdess Susan and then farmer Meri arrive at the practice in the middle of the night with pregnant sheep in need of urgent veterinary help. Away from the practice, Tom is called out to a farm 20 miles away. A retired racehorse has had a troublesome introduction to the herd, resulting in a leg injury that Tom fears is badly infected
