The Travel Show
How to Eat Like an Italian
Food enthusiast and baker Briony May Williams travels the length of Italy to ask: are Italians too fussy about their food? The United Nations cultural body Unesco has recently given the country's entire cooking tradition special status - that's everything from pasta to pizza, mozzarella to tiramisu. But many Italians have strong opinions about how, when and what to eat, and some unwitting faux pas from visitors can send purists into a frenzy. Briony meets the innovators adding controversial ingredients to pizza and new flavours to ice cream, and the traditionalists who want to keep things exactly as they are.
