The case against Ivan IV, also known as Ivan the Terrible, the infamous tsar of Russia, whose reign was characterised by violence and a strong, autocratic rule. After leading a miserable childhood, he had his first rival put to death while aged just 13. He was Grand Prince of Moscow from 1533 to 1547 and Tsar of All the Russias from 1547 until his death.
