Gordon Buchanan continues his journey around the equator, witnessing the fight to preserve the Amazon rainforest from destruction. He joins an aerial police patrol hunting for illegal loggers and witnesses a tribe mapping their territory to prevent it from being destroyed. Crossing the Andes, Gordon discovers how aerial surveillance is used to monitor Ecuador's endangered condors, and discovers a nature reserve in the canopy of a pristine patch of cloud forest, where new species are being discovered
