He begins by examining how the top-heavy Mary Rose became a source of national embarrassment and discovers why the wrecking of the Spanish Armada was so unexpected. He also considers the terrifying real-life disasters that inspired two great castaway tales - The Tempest by William Shakespeare and Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe
