Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers
Scottish Opera's production of the comic operetta. Two Venetian brothers working as gondoliers find their staunchly republican principles tested when they learn that one of them is their heir to the throne of a distant kingdom - but nobody knows which one. They strive to rule together in a chaotic fashion, while also dealing with the revelation that whichever of them is the true king is engaged to be married without his knowledge
Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers airs on BBC Four HD at 10:00 PM, Sunday 15 November. (Subtitles.)
