A photographer, struggling to overcome the break-up of her marriage by going to live on a friend's California ranch, where her riding skills impress the ranch hands - one of whom she embarks on a passionate affair with. However, her life takes a turn for the worse when her new lover is unable to cope with the class difference between them and an accident leaves her paralysed.
