Hayley and Craig Monk live in Devonport, a suburb with a seaside-holiday feeling, just across the harbour from central Auckland. Built by Craig's grandfather, the Monks' solid brick and tile home has housed four generations of their family. When Craig and Hayley moved in, the house had been largely untouched since the 1950s. But its old-school layout disconnects the family - including their two young sons - and almost ignores the large, sunny back garden. Alex's saving grace is a very healthy renovation budget. But she'll need every cent to turn this house into a modern home that flows. And halfway through the renovation, a spanner in the works alters everything that Alex has planned. Paul is feeling confident when Hayley and Craig reveal their budget for the property search, which may be enough to find them the perfect, modern family home. Will the Monks decide to love their home or list it?
