Dame Vera Lynn: We'll Meet Again
In a revised version of a documentary first shown in 2017 to mark the 100th birthday of the forces sweetheart, Katie Derham makes use of archive footage and family records to tell the story of how Vera Lynn became one of the UK's most well-known musical stars. Vera marked her centenary by reminiscing about her early days in showbusiness, with help from her daughter Virginia. She recalls starting out as Vera Welch in the 1920s, first appearing on stage at the tender age of seven, before charming the nation's servicemen during the Second World War. She also remembers becoming the first British artist to achieve a number one in America in the 1950s, and a similar feat in 2009, when she became the oldest living singer to reach the same position in the UK charts. Along the way, Second World War veterans and entertainment industry figures - including Paul McCartney, Barry Humphries and Miriam Margolyes - pay tribute to the power of her voice
