A landlady reports that her lodger, 22-year-old international student Santra, has not been seen or in touch with her for ten days. Officers initially hope that she may have simply left without telling anyone but a troubling note found in her accommodation triggers a high-risk missing persons investigation. Sergeant David Tainsh is on duty at Howdenhall Police Station in Edinburgh when a call comes in alerting him to the disappearance of 52-year-old Laura who has not been in touch with her housing officer for the past two weeks. The officer is convinced that she is not in control of her decision-making and is sleeping outside in dangerously low temperatures
