The story of two women in Ireland accused of being in league with the devil, persecuted and branded as'witches'. In Kilkenny, suspected of killing her husband, Alice Kyteler was accused of heresy by the Bishop who believed she was in league with the devil. Alice fled, but her maidservant Petronella de Meath met a terrible fate. Centuries later as witch panics spread across Europe, in Puritan Youghal a beggar woman named Florence Newton was accused of bewitching a servant Mary Longdon for refusing her charity. Florence was put on trial for the crime of witchcraft and became known forever as the 'Witch of Youghal'
