By April 1945 most of Germany was occupied by invading Allied forces, with the two-million strong Soviet army just a mile from Hitler's hiding place In Berlin. With the Nazi regime disintegrating, most of Hitler's deputies were busy making plans to try to survive the end of the war and only his most die-hard loyalists stay by his side
