In an arena traditionally dominated by men, female spies of the Second World War overcame perceived weaknesses to become some of the war's most capable agents - leaving lasting legacies. Joey Guerrero, long outcast as a leper, finds an unlikely advantage in her illness when she becomes an anti-Japanese spy. In a twist of fate, Marie Madeleine-Fourcade was left to lead one of France's largest and most important resistance networks, Violette Szabo's bravery led to tragic endings but a treasured legacy. In occupied France, Pearl Witherington stepped up to the plate to become commander of thousands
