Affected and rather naive drama following the fortunes of a group of illegal immigrants struggling to scrape a living in Sixties Britain. The film focuses on Aamir, who travels from Pakistan in a vegetable crate and takes up a variety of unskilled jobs to support his family. Living in a house with 16 other men, he strikes up a friendship with a student who becomes his guide to British life.
