In Ayr, crewmates Sophie and Shelby are called to a critical incident in which Irene has suffered a burst gastric ulcer and is losing pints of blood. Meanwhile, Aberdeen-based paramedic Andrew, technician Simon and student Matthew treat Patrick, who is displaying a range of worrying symptoms, including a worsening headache, a rash and a sensitivity to light. The team can't rule out meningitis, but encounter a queue of ambulances outside Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
