The story of space shuttle Columbia - hailed as the most complex craft ever built - which overcame technological challenges to become the first of its kind to fly into outer space in April 1981. The programme recalls its tragic disintegration in February 2003 on its 28th mission upon re-entry into Earth's atmosphere after 16 days in space, resulting in the deaths of all seven astronauts on board
