Ramsay MacMahon heads north to the Orkney Islands, where he has a busy few days getting to know this archipelago of scenic fertile islands and turquoise blue waters. He learns about warfare on Orkney during the First World War and kayaks out through crystal clear water to see one of the boats sunk deliberately to block the route for German U-boats into Scapa Flow, the UK's naval base during the war. Ramsay also discovers the history of the Second World War in Orkney via a visit to a Nissan hut-turned-Italian chapel
